What is SpotDiff?
SpotDiff is a free, browser-based daily puzzle game where you find the differences between two scenes. A new puzzle drops every day across themes like vintage cafes, cozy cottages, cultural festivals, sci-fi cities, and historical interiors.
Every scene is generated by AI — no two days are alike. Each puzzle has 12 differences and 3 visual variants, so refreshing or replaying always brings something new.
How are puzzles created?
The pipeline combines three open AI models on a single GPU:
- A text-to-image model generates the base scene from a theme prompt (e.g. "1920s Parisian art deco cafe in winter").
- A vision-language model plans 12 difference rect locations and writes per-rect descriptions for the A and B sides.
- An inpainting model renders the B-side variants, replacing only the rect contents while keeping the rest of the image pixel-identical.
Every puzzle goes through human review before being deployed live, so the difference placements actually align with objects in the scene rather than landing on empty backgrounds.
Why a daily puzzle?
Casual daily games like Wordle and the NYT crossword fit nicely into a 5-minute coffee break. SpotDiff aims for the same rhythm — visual rather than verbal, playful rather than competitive, but with enough variety that the 200th puzzle still feels fresh.
What does it cost?
Free, no signup required. There's a token system that lets you use hints if you get stuck — you start with a few free tokens, earn more from daily login and play streaks, and can purchase more if you want (currently in sandbox mode, real payment to be added later). The game itself is unlimited.
The site is supported by automatic Google AdSense ads. We don't use intrusive interstitials.
Privacy & data
Your progress (which puzzles you've cleared, your streak, your tokens) is stored in your browser's local storage — nothing leaves your device unless you create an account. We use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity for aggregate traffic analytics. Full details in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Languages
The game UI is currently in English. Korean and Simplified Chinese metadata are emitted on each puzzle page so search engines in those regions can index the content; full UI translation may come in a later phase.
